3-Day Desert Adventure: Merzouga to Marrakech

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Aït Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Rose Valley – Dades Gorges
Your journey begins at 8:00 AM with pickup from your accommodation in Marrakech. We travel through the scenic High Atlas Mountains via the winding Tizi N’Tichka pass, pausing for panoramic views and photographs of charming Berber villages.

Our first major stop is the ancient ksar of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the iconic backdrop for many famous films like Gladiator, The Mummy, and The Jewel of the Nile. After lunch, we continue toward Ouarzazate—nicknamed “The Gateway to the Desert”—where we visit the impressive Taourirt Kasbah.

Next, we head to the Skoura Oasis and into the fragrant Rose Valley, known for its annual Rose Festival in May. By evening, we arrive at the stunning Dades Valley, where we settle in for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga – Camel Ride – Desert Camp
After breakfast, we admire spectacular views of the Dades Valley, home to a rich collection of kasbahs and dramatic rock formations. Continuing on to the Todra Gorges, we explore these impressive limestone canyons, a popular spot for hikers and rock climbers.

Following a break for lunch in Tinejdad or Touroug, we head deeper into the desert toward Merzouga and the magical dunes of Erg Chebbi. Here, your camel awaits for a sunset ride across the golden sands to your nomadic-style desert camp. Enjoy dinner under the stars and a night in traditional Berber tents.

Day 3: Merzouga – Draa Valley – Anti-Atlas Mountains – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Wake early for an unforgettable sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast at the camp, ride back to Merzouga by camel. We journey through the pre-Saharan landscapes dotted with acacia trees, eventually reaching the Draa Valley—home to Morocco’s longest river.

After admiring the vast palm groves and desert scenery, we travel through the rugged Anti-Atlas Mountains and return to Ouarzazate for a lunch break. By late afternoon, we continue our drive back to Marrakech, arriving around 8:00 PM. Hotel transfer marks the end of your unforgettable desert tour.
