4 Days Tour: Fes – Merzouga Desert – Todra Gorges – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga – Camel Trek & Overnight in Desert Camp
Your journey begins with pickup from your hotel or riad in Fes. We head south through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains, with a stop in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine architecture and clean, cool air. Then we visit Azrou, a Berber village nestled in the cedar forests, where you may encounter Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.

The route continues through Midelt and over the Tizi N’Talghamt Pass, offering dramatic views of the High Atlas Plateau. As we descend into the Ziz Gorge, you’ll notice the landscape gradually shifting towards the desert. After a lunch break near Errachidia, we follow the lush Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views en route to Erfoud and Rissani.

In the afternoon, we arrive at Merzouga, where you’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea. Your camel trek begins across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, led by an experienced camel guide. Enjoy the desert sunset before arriving at your Berber camp, where dinner is served beneath the stars. Overnight in a traditional desert tent.

Day 2: Merzouga – Nomadic Encounters – Tissardmine Oasis – Khamlia Village – Erg Chebbi Dunes
Rise early to witness an unforgettable sunrise over the dunes. After returning by camel to Merzouga for breakfast, we begin a full day of desert exploration.

We’ll travel around the dunes of Erg Chebbi, stopping first at the Tissardmine Oasis, an area rich in fossils. From there, we follow a former Paris-Dakar Rally route, visiting nomadic families who live in the region and learning about their customs and way of life.

At a scenic viewpoint, take in the full expanse of the dunes before continuing to Khamlia Village, home to descendants of Sub-Saharan migrants. Here, you’ll enjoy traditional tea and a performance of Gnawa music, a spiritual and rhythmic expression of African heritage.

In the afternoon, return to your hotel in Merzouga. Relax, enjoy the sunset from the dunes nearby, or explore the area. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
After breakfast, we leave the desert behind and head to Rissani, a historic town known for its bustling market (especially on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays). From there, we visit Erfoud, where you can explore fossil workshops and learn how fossilized marble is processed.

We then pass through the Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves, arriving at the spectacular Todra Gorges—a dramatic canyon with towering rock walls carved by the Todra River. This area is a favorite for climbers and nature lovers alike. After free time for lunch and a walk through the gorge, we continue to the Dades Valley.

Known as the “Valley of Figs,” the area is famous for its rock formations like the “Monkey Fingers” and traditional kasbahs. Dinner and overnight in a hotel in the Dades Gorges.

Day 4: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas – Marrakech
After breakfast, enjoy panoramic views of the Dades Valley from a mountain lookout. As we travel through the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, we pass through Roses Valley and the vast Skoura palm grove.

Our journey brings us to Ouarzazate, where we visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, once home to the Glaoui dynasty. If you’re interested, you can also visit the Atlas Film Studios and the Cinema Museum, both known for their roles in many major films.

Next, we head to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, a striking fortified village used as a set for films like Gladiator, The Mummy, Game of Thrones, and more. After exploring the kasbah and a lunch break, we cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters), stopping along the way for photos of the spectacular scenery.

We arrive in Marrakech by around 6 PM and transfer you to your hotel or riad.
